New York-New York Hotel & Casino Joins the Fight Against Childhood Cancer with St. Baldrick's Day Event, March 11

8th Annual Head-Shaving Fundraiser Benefits
Childhood Cancer Research

Las Vegas (Feb. 9, 2017) – For the eighth consecutive year, New York-New York Hotel & Casino encourages Las Vegans and visitors to be bold and brave the shave in support of childhood cancer research during the St. Baldrick’s Day head-shaving event. On Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., guests of all ages are invited to a fun-filled celebration on the hotel’s iconic Brooklyn Bridge. The event will feature celebrity head-shavers and upbeat music as shavees shed their locks in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. It is complimentary and open to the public.

Those interested in braving a shave for the cause can register online here or on site the day of the event. Group registration is also available for teams and organizations.

“We’re delighted to host the St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser at New York-New York for the eighth year in a row as we continue to work together in raising awareness for this important cause and incredible Foundation,” said Cynthia Kiser Murphey, president and chief operating officer at New York-New York Hotel & Casino. “We encourage locals and visitors to brave a shave in support of childhood cancer research and join us for this fun, inspiring event.”

The festivities will include a special appearance by the Las Vegas Pipe Band to kick off the event; celebrity guest appearances by cast members from MAGIC MIKE LIVE, TENORS OF ROCK and ABSINTHE, including starlet Melody Sweets, who will shave Las Vegas Entertainment Writer John Katsilometes’ head; Mark Shunock, host of Mondays Dark and owner of The Space; Terry Fator of TERRY FATOR: THE VOICE OF ENTERTAINMENT and more and entertainment such as balloon art and face painting and a raffle with exciting prizes.

Kathleen Ruddy, chief executive officer for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, said, “Cancer claims the lives of more children in the United States than any other disease. Funds raised at head-shaving events are crucial to find better treatments and cures for all childhood cancers. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with New York-New York and have the Las Vegas community join us in the fight against childhood cancer once again.”

Last year, New York-New York’s St. Baldrick’s Day event raised more than $200,000 for childhood cancer research and this year the property aims to reach another record breaking number of donations and participants to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
