LAS VEGAS (October 13, 2014) – New York-New York Hotel & Casino starting “spreading the luck” today to unsuspecting passengers of Southwest Airlines’ first-ever direct flight from Dallas’ Love Field to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Southwest’s founders Herb Kelleher and Colleen Barrett, who launched the airline in 1971, were on hand at Love Field to greet the passengers of Flight #393 as they boarded for Las Vegas.
To begin their lucky journey, passengers arrived at their seats to find a gift bundle from New York-New York containing exclusive comps to restaurants and shops at the hotel as well as a T-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Every gift they received came in pairs, so each passenger could share their luck with someone else.
Throughout the flight, guests were invited to spin the “Spread the Luck” prize wheel as they enjoyed a welcome departure from the standard in-flight pretzels with sweet snacks from HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE WORLD retail store at New York-New York.
Prior to landing in Las Vegas, each passenger on board was presented with a complimentary two-night stay at New York-New York, two tickets to Zumanity,The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil and a $100 food & beverage credit to use during their visit.
Today’s celebratory flight to Las Vegas marks the lifting of the Wright Amendment which, since 1980, prohibited airlines from offering direct passenger flights from Love Field to domestic destinations. Southwest will now offer three daily non-stop flights from Dallas to Las Vegas.
